How does Stay work?

Stay Labs creates meal plans for both puppies and adult dogs. Every subscription includes free delivery, although the company is not currently shipping to every state. At this time it is only serving dog owners in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Vermont.

During the signup process, Stay will ask you questions including your dog’s name, age, reproductive ability, health goals, breed, weight and body type, activity level, snacking habits, and food sensitivities and dietary requirements. It then uses your answers to craft a meal plan to meet your dog’s dietary needs.

Once you answer the questions, you’ll be asked to choose your preferred recipe and provide your shipping and billing information. Your subscription will be shipped to you as often as necessary to ensure that your dog has a steady supply of food, which normally results in monthly or bi-monthly deliveries.

Food arrives frozen in sealed, sustainable packaging. From there, you simply need to defrost the food overnight and serve it to your dog alone or as a supplement to its existing diet. Stay also provides you with frequent stool kits to test your dog’s gut biome and see if changes need to be made to optimize its diet.

Food Variety and Quality

The meals at Stay Labs are created using human-grade, fresh ingredients. Each meal is crafted in the company’s kitchen in Brooklyn, New York, then frozen to preserve its freshness. It currently offers two meals to its customers and their pets: a chicken recipe and a beef recipe.

The recipes include USDA-certified meat and fresh vegetables, fruits, and grains, including plenty of healthy superfoods. The chicken recipe is made with butternut squash and carrots. Among its other ingredients you’ll also find chicken organs, green peas, egg, parsnips, sprouted lentils, kale, anchovy oil, blueberries, psyllium seed husk, kelp, dried ginger, and dried turmeric. Meanwhile, the beef recipe comes with sweet potatoes and green peas. It also contains beef organs, butternut squash, sprouted lentils, kale, green beans, celery, anchovy oil, parsnips, whole ground oats, flaxseeds, blueberries, psyllium seed husk, kelp, dried ginger and dried turmeric.

In the near future, Stay Labs plans to introduce a turkey recipe alongside its chicken and beef recipes. If your dog has food sensitivities or requires a prescription diet, Stay Labs can customize your dog’s meals accordingly.

Additional Products Available

Stay Labs specializes in creating customized natural dog food. As of right now, it does not offer any other products, such as dog snacks or toys, for sale on its website. Additionally, its meals are only available via a subscription, and it does not provide à la carte ordering at this time. That said, new customers receive a free microbiome test kit and digital scale with their first order.

Presently, Stay only makes its meals available via a subscription and does not offer à la carte pricing. The price you pay for your meal subscription changes depending on your dog’s size, body type, and health goals.

For example, a 1-year old, 25-pound underweight dog with moderate energy and activity levels can be fed for $4.51 per day or $33.80 per week for 4 weeks. A dog of the same age and size that happens to be overweight can be fed for $3.96 per day or $27.78 per week for 5 weeks. Stay recommends a shipping frequency designed for your dog's dietary needs, but allows you to edit your frequency after checkout. It also includes free delivery with each shipment.

As an introductory offer, new customers receive 50% off their first shipment. Stay will also throw in a free digital scale to keep track of your dog’s weight and a stool kit to test your dog’s gut biome. Depending on the result of the stool test, Stay can adjust your dog’s meals to optimize its health. If you’re unsatisfied with Stay’s meals, you can cancel your subscription within 30 days for a full refund.

What Do Pet Parents Have to Say About Stay?

“Stay’s food gave a huge boost to Housta’s energy levels. As an older dog, it has been amazing to watch her running and playing again just like she used to.” - Oliver & Hosta

“The verdict is in: she is so happy and so am I! It’s been months since she was so excited to eat. She’s had Stay for 3 days now, and is waiting at my feet as I weigh it out, howling at me to hurry up, and eats her whole meal in one (very fast) sitting.” - Ashley & Nova

“Now that Ollie has been on Stay, his poops continue to impress me! He has such a sensitive tummy and nothing but perfect poos!!! No regurgitation either, which was a problem when he first got on fresh food. Thank you so much! Trying to get my friends to switch to Stay as well!” - Jehnna & Ollie
